Was able to get out to the Denver Auto Show last Thursday and really enjoyed it as usual. We always go with some pretty good friends and end up having quite a good time. This year was not different and from Smart Cars to G Boxes we were able to see them all. Here is a quick top ten list or awards for this years show.
Top Ten List for the 2012 Denver Auto Show
“Outside/Inside Award” goes to the 2013 Toyota FJ.
This truck always looks great from the outside to me but year after year every time I sit in it I can not bring myself to like it. The front window is just too small and your view is all hood. The blind spots seem like they would be plentiful and the practicality for someone like myself is next to none.
“Space Ship Award” goes to the Smart Car
The Smart Car had an excessive amount of room for how small it was. I have to say I was surprised and if I had the $17,000 or so dollars these bad boys cost I would definitely still not get one.
“Giddy Up Award” goes to both the 2013 Jeep SRT8 and the 2012 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
Although both of these cars are quite different although the horsepower in which they carry is quite excessive and borderline dangerous. The 2012 Jeep 2012 SR8 touts an impressive 470hp while the Zr1 has a supercharged V8 landing it around 638hp… excessive. I like it.
“Best Paint Job” goes to the Lamborghini Aventor
“Better Than the Last Award” goes to the 2013 Volkswagen Beetle
Unlike VW’s last effort the 2012 Beetle is a closer in look and feel to the original and seems to be aimed at both men and women this time around. The TDI was very sleek and I have to say that I enjoyed in black. The interior was quite roomy and to be honest I was pleasantly surprised at the whole package although for the same amount of money you could and I would probably find something a little different.
“Emmy Likey Award” goes to the 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth
With 160hp this little lady can get up and go. The styling is great and the size is perfect for a nice get around town type of car. The price is a little steep for what you get, but what you get seems to be a box of fun. So why the heck not.
“Lady In Black Award” goes to the 2013 Mercedes SLS AMG
Gull wing doors? Yes please. This 6.3 litre beast is phenomenal to look at and it sounds amazing. I was lucky enough to stand on a street corner when one pulled up to a red light the last time I was in Vegas. I am not sure I am a huge fan of this girl in the black and I think I prefer it in some type of red but I can’t help myself from stopping and giving it over a nice long look. This thing is sexy mean!
“Best Seat of the Night” goes to he 2013 Mercedes E63 AMG
Amongst other mentions I would give this car it was hands down the best car I sat in outside of my car of the night. At least that was unlocked and we were allowed to sit in. I was not much of a Mercedes fan until I sat in this sucker. Now…. I want one.
“Personal Dream Car Award” goes to the 2013 BMW M5
Damn this thing looks good. Not sure about the blue but it still looks super great. I have always wanted a BMW M Series so seeing this thing sitting out there just got my juices flowing. I was unable to sit in it but would have loved to see the interior to see if everything on the inside matches the greatness of the outside. Mmmmm!
“Car of the Show” goes to the 2013 Mercedes G550 SUV (a.k.a The G-Box)
Hands down the coolest car I sat in was the new G-Box! It was one of the sexiest cars that I have ever sat in. Being a spacious SUV owner myself I again saw the advantage of a roomy interior that would easily accomodate a family while giving you the utility of an SUV. Anyway, this was certainly my favorite car at the show! Enjoy the photos…
