I have been in the web development and design industry for about ten years now, although I would consider myself more of a curator of tools, elements and languages. I am completely self taught outside of a few great web and computer classes I took when I was in High School in the late nineties…. yeah I said it! The nineties! I remember when Photoshop was new, or newer at least. My first software package that was worth a darn was a Macromedia Web package that included Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash and Freehand. Those were the days when software came with huge user guides… which I actually used and learned a ton from. I built quite a few Flash sites and did my fair share of abusing Photoshop filters and fire effects. Shame on me. I was blessed to break into the corporate web design world about five years ago. Upon doing so I quickly established a need to learn how to hand code and CSS and HTML where really solidified for me in that first year. Since then I have learned quite a bit more about those two languages as well as picked up some skill in a few others including some PHP, jQuery and raw JS. I dove into WordPress pretty heavy a few years ago and for me it is a platform or choice if you are not a super nerd programming assasin. Here are some of the skills that I have obtained and tools that I use on my journey and I am happy to say that I continue to add to on a daily basis…
Although I enjoy my work a great deal I am primarily a family man. I have two wonderful boys and a smoking wife who is also my best friend. We have a good time! I would take quality of life over money every single time. Loving your work and who you work with and for is a huge deal. Pursuing my maker, King and Father is a priority I always want to hold and am committed to, although I have to admit I am not as great at this as I would like to be. I have a few vices as well mostly involving motorsports, however there are others of which I cannot mention as they are way too nerdy to speak of the interweb.
